Life can be quite overwhelming most times. The reality of adulthood can hit you very quickly, mostly because we are never really prepared for the responsibility of life.
As young adults, we are really quick to ‘gain freedom’ and live ‘independently’ but many at times, it is not quickly realized that that can be a great challenge for life, but I’m sure some may choose to disagree.
I grew up as a young girl in the city of Lagos, Nigeria. Had a decent education and was never really over the top with my relationships(that is to say I kept a decent company, still do). Somewhere along the lines of growing, I wanted to be on my own, I wanted to have that kind of independence that Elsa(from frozen) had.
Fortunately, that can be a good thing, but for a young girl like me who had nursed this desire so much, it came to pass one day, when I found myself alone, finally, I had the freedom I desired, but it came with a price. I began to see the quirkiness of ‘being alone’.
Now this might not mean much to many people outside of Lagos Nigeria, but it does mean a lot here, trying to figure out life on your own when everything seems to be working against you, where it seems like things are put in place to specifically mitigate against your growth financially, mentally or even physically most times.
What I did was to quickly realize that life is not all that straightforward, there are always lessons to learn and lessons are never easy. Sometimes lessons come over and over again and life keeps teaching you till you decide to learn it and never take that path again or advance your methods.
The biggest lesson I have learned so far is FINANCIALLY, and money is one thing that everyone has in common. I learned, that if you try to hurry to be rich, you might not be innocent. This is a wise saying from one of the wisest men who ever walked the earth -King Solomon.
So before you hasten to do anything, remember these 3things;
- You’re in competition with no one.
- Take like one step at a time.
- Breathe and tell yourself ‘you’re doing fine’
You can definitely be sure, it will turn out fine in the end and your lessons learned will all be worth it.
